From courtroom sketch books to digital innovation

My career started unusually early; I got my first assignment for the evening newspaper Expressen while I was still in elementary school. Since then, I have navigated through almost every conceivable form of visual expression. During the 90s, I made my mark on magazines like Slitz and Café Sport with humorous illustrations, only to return to Expressen as a full-time editorial artist at the turn of the millennium.

There, amidst the intense news coverage of events like 9/11, the Anna Lindh trial, and the Knutby murders, I found my passion for combining classic craftsmanship with new technology. One day I was sitting in a courtroom with a sketch book and pen in my hand, the next day I was introducing 3D graphics to the editorial office and changing the way we visualized news graphics.

Today I work as an AD, illustrator and animator on a freelance basis, working on children's book projects and educational e-learning courses. After many years of working across the entire craft spectrum – from analogue to digital – the circle has come full circle. I'm back where I started, but with a toolbox that allows me to combine the best of both worlds.

I consciously position myself in the direction of human expression. That's where my images get their weight and their soul. The human touch, the imperfect, the living – that's what gives identity in an age of one-sided perfection.
